WAYNE W. WOOD, O.D.
Since entering practice with his
uncle in 1971, Dr. Wayne Wood has
developed a national reputation as
an
innovator in contact lenses and
practice management. He has lectured extensively at seminars throughout the U.S. and in 20 foreign countries. For over 15 years, he served as Co-Chairman for Vision Expo, the largest conference for eyecare professionals in this country. In addition, he is a clinical investigator
and consultant for numerous contact lens
manufacturers. A graduate of
Emory University
and the University of Houston, Dr.
Wood has published numerous
articles in
national optometry publications and has served on the editorial boards
of six different professional journals. He is a member of
the Contact Lens Section of the
American
Optometric Association and is one of the founders of the National
Association of
Contact Lens Specialists. He is also widely known as the founder of
Riverside Avondale
Preservation, one of the South's foremost
neighborhood
organizations. Dr. Wood
is the author of the best-selling book,
Jacksonville's
Architectural Heritage. His latest books have also won
rave reviews: The Jacksonville
Family Album, The Great Fire
of 1901,
and The Architecture of Henry John
Klutho.

JAMES
C. LANIER, JR., O.D., F.A.A.O.
One of the most respected
optometrists in
Jacksonville is Dr. Jim Lanier, son of the noted local pediatrician. A
graduate of Mercer
University and Southern College of optometry, Dr. Lanier joined the practice
in 1983. With a national reputation for expertise in contact lenses and related diseases,
he has presented lectures at dozens of
major optometry conventions
throughout
America, Canada, Asia, and Europe. He is a contact lens clinical investigator
for several
of the large contact lens manufacturers and a consultant for the Florida
Department
of Professional Regulation. He is past-President
of the Northeast
Florida Optometric
Association. In 1989, the American Academy
of Optometry selected him as a Diplomate
in its Cornea and Contact Lens Section,
one of the most
prestigious honors
in the contact lens field. He is a member of the Vision Enhancement Council
International
and is an adjunct professor for Southern College of Optometry. Dr. Lanier
also has served as President of the West Jacksonville Rotary Club and
Chairman of the
Board of the Youth Crisis Center.

TODD BOWMAN, O.D.
Continuing our long tradition of
outstanding
clinicians is Dr. Todd Bowman. He is now well established in the optometric
community,
after joining our practice in 1988. His technical expertise has
contributed much to
bringing the latest state-of-the-art procedures into the practice. A Florida native,
Dr. Bowman was born in Sarasota and raised
here in Jacksonville. After
graduating
from Englewood High School in 1979, he
received a Bachelor of Science
degree from
Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, Tenn., and his Doctorate of
Optometry degree
from Southern College of Optometry. Dr. Bowman has a strong background
in contact
lenses, as well as ocular diagnosis and
treatment. He has distinguished himself
as an author in national optometric journals
and as a clinical
research specialist
for several contact lens companies. He is a member of the Contact Lens
Section of the
American Optometric Association and the Northeast Florida Optometric
Society. Dr.
Bowman is a founding member of the National
Society of Eyecare
Specialists.

ELLEN
L. ROGERS, O.D.
Dr. Rogers joined our staff on a
part-time
basis in 1993 and on a full-time basis in 1996. She previously served as the Staff
Optometrist
at the Baptist Eye Institute since its inception in 1991, where she
gained a broad
experience in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of ocular diseases. The
daughter of
an Air Force dentist, Dr. Rogers was raised all over the United States and in
several
foreign countries. She pursued her undergraduate
education at Auburn
University
before going on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry Degree with Honors
from the University
of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Rogers
has been actively involved
in local
and statewide optometry organizations, having served as President of the
Northeast Florida
Optometric Society and chairing several committees for the Florida Optometric Association.
She also likes to stay active in the community, donating her time to
Prevent Blindness
as well as serving on a local healthcare
advisory committee.
John Womack, O.D.
Our newest
doctor is Dr.
John Womack. Many of our patients will recognize John from six years
ago when he was an intern in our practice, as part of his training with
Southern College of Optometry. After practicing in Georgia for several
years, John is back, and we are proud to have him home again! John's warm and
caring personality, as well as his superb clinical skills, make him one
of the rising stars of the Northeast Florida Optometric Association.
